TYPES OF ORTHODONTIC APPOINTMENTS

There are different types of orthodontic appointments depending on the stage of your treatment. Read through the explanations below to see which one applies to you.

+ New Patient

Full diagnostic records, including photographs and X-rays, will be taken. Without seeing the patient, the orthodontist will use these records to plan the treatment and set up a quote at a later stage.

You will be sent a comprehensive treatment report. Click on the button below for more information on how to read your treatment report.

Please note:

- Hugo Orthodontics quotations are only valid for the current calendar year.

- Any clinical records taken are only valid for 6 months and may need to be retaken if the records are older than 6 months.

- Quotations given in December are still valid in January of the next year.

+ Returning Patient

This is for patients who are not yet ready to start treatment and are on a 6-12 monthly recall, waiting for the ideal stage of development before orthodontics should start. The orthodontist will advise each patient about their specific timeframe.

+ Apply New Braces

If advised, please book an "Apply New Braces" appointment.

+ ROUTINE CHECKUP

This appointment is for patients who are already under treatment.

+ Reapply Braces

For patients who have had the braces removed for a social occasion, for patients whose braces need to be replaced prior to jaw surgery or for patients who are being re-treated because of relapse - only book if advised to do so by the orthodontist or a clinical staff member.

+ Long appointment (normal braces)

A morning appointment for patients requiring a major adjustment - only book if advised to do so.

+ Take impressions

For patients whose retainers need replacement

+ post treatment retainer check

One appointment will be booked shortly after treatment is completed and thereafter, on a 6 monthly to yearly basis.

+ Post treatment retainer check (on a hygienist day - no consultation fee)

For patients who are satisfied with their teeth or require small adjustments but require new retainers. One appointment will be booked shortly after treatment is completed and thereafter, on a 6 monthly to yearly basis. The orthodontist will evaluate & modify the models later prior to retainer construction.

+ pre-surgery appointment

For patients who have a Corrective Jaw Operation booked within 1-3 weeks

+ post-surgery appointment or paoo

Patients are usually seen 2-3 weekly after they have had Corrective Jaw surgery or PAOO (Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics). Because only 1 appointment at a time can be booked online, the receptionist will book these.

+ fit plate

Patients who have had an impression taken and a plate is to be made by the laboratory

+ Laser

For patients whose gums are swollen and need trimming or for patients whose unerupted teeth need to be exposed. Book only if advised to do so.
